And so Autumn has come and I couldn’t be happier. I love wearing cosy knits, boots, hats and scarves. I also have toyed with autumnal make up. Through this journey of simplifying my life and maybe being a little ruthless, I organised, gave away and binned a lot of make up and skin care etc that I just didn’t use or need. I am by no means the minimalism queen and I haven’t cut out all of my make up (I still like choices). But I have depleted my collection by half at least.
I like to keep the base of my makeup to a minimal, sometimes I don’t wear foundation and stick to a powder or a tinted moisturiser, on those lazy days I don’t wear anything. However for this look I used the YSL cushion foundation (le cushion encre de peau) in shade 50.
I use a Beauty Blender to apply my foundation and then press the foundation in with the sponge that comes with the compact to finish the look.
Those Autumn Eyes
I popped to Boots and scoured the shelves for ages for a palette that I could use for this season and Winter… what felt like a lifetime later I found THE ONE! Ablaze Eye Palette by Smashbox.
If you don’t have this in your makeup bag… go.. GO GET IT. I followed the one in one out rule to ensure that I didn’t clutter up my drawers. It is literally the best palette that has walked into my life and I cannot stop with it!
One of my pet hates when wearing eye shadow is when the line appears across your eye lid and your eye shadow looks messy. I use a tiny drop of primer and the colour appears more pigmented and stays all day long. I have quite an olive tone to my skin (thanks dad!) so I find that the colours are absolutely magical once blended in nicely.
To compete this eye look I use siesta over the entire lid and blend in Delirious on the outer corners. I use black eye shadow as eye liner, I find that it is a little less defined and it’s not as harsh for a day wear.
Them Lush Lips
I wish I was one of those people who could pull off the dark lips and the winter tones however I just can’t get my head around it. I am a lover of nudes and it’s pretty much all I own. For this look I lined my lips with Mac Soar and applied Tom Fords Nude Vanille over the top. I struggle with dry lips as soon as I apply any kind of lippy so I put lip balm on top to keep them kissable.
Whats your Autumnal makeup go to ladies?
Lots of Love
